Whale watching in South Africa - BLUE EYE' D leopard / Pygmy Killer Whales

THIS time I AM going to attach a photo – as soon as Natasha has gone to download her memory card – 10minutes after departing from the jetty yesterday in the Southern direction towards Honeymoon Bend, just past the Kingfisher Lodge jetty, she got a BLUE EYED Leopard!

I LIKE the English word exceptional, in Afrikaans is die uitsonderlik! That means it is something extraordinary special – something that we hardly ever see, and even for us that’s spoilt and on the water 24/7, something to ‘brag’ about.

Our scientists from MCM is also awaiting our photo of the Southern Right calf, as it’s the first time in 10years that we’ve seen a Southern Right whale calf along our coastline.

AND we have just sighted Pygmy Killer Whales close to the whale watching vessel! Bonus – bonus – bonus – bonus – bonus – bonus – bonus – bonus – bonus – bonus !!

So, EXCEPT for the Humpback Whales that are daily guaranteed sightings, you CAN let your clientele know the possibility of seeing other marine mammals, other species of whales, dolphins and flying fish is an extra bonus!

I had someone again yesterday that phoned and was hesitant about the R700-00p.p……but an hour later he phoned back and made the booking, as a friend of his told him it’s worth every penny of that R700-00!

AND, we had a visitor from Richards Bay this weekend, COULD NOT believe WHAT and how MUCH it takes to run this business, so if your client wants to know where their R700-00 goes to – they just have to look around the whale watching operation and see all the vehicles, tractors, trailors, emergency jetski, vessels, and then a whole team of ADVANTAGE staff  - all of this ( except for the staff – they ‘’operate on chicken-a-la-king, bread, muffins, lunchbars, pies – ha ha ) run on ENGEN FUEL . . . R40 000-00p/week….!

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I can hear you saying it’s our choice to run this operation, but the passion of being out there on that ocean makes up for all the stress on the beach!

For us as operators it is a sad day to hear that out our one guide , David du Plessis have passed away recently after having a stroke.

Our guides becoming like family over so many years being here every now and again, and it is a sad day for everybody that knew David well. Our condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

Keep in touch and have a BLESSED SUNDAY!
