Accommodation in St Lucia seems to be fully booked this longweekend of the 24th of September 2007 .

If anybody still has any opening , empty rooms or flats , please let us know as we have walk-ins into the office all the time enquiring about the accommodation availability.

The Hippo and Croc Boat Tours still have empty seats , and there is also still place on the Whale Watching trips .

This time of the year is just our windy season , we have the prevailing north winds blowing daily , and have to be able to get out early to do the whale trips , as later throughout the day the wind just gets too strong .

The sun is up just after 05h30 nowadays , so not such a hassle anymore to get out of bed early morning !

Berno had the most awesome sighting of a HUMPBACK whale this morning - Danie has seen this before as he has been on the ocean a couple of years longer , but it was the first such sighting for Berno - The Humpback Whale was spyhopping – whales often raise their heads high enough above the surface so that the eyes appear to be looking around, but this morning’s whale was spyhopping for an extreme long period

On one of the trips last year we had a whale spyhop next to the boat as if to do ‘’people watching ‘’ and not us to it - whale watching …this huge eye was staring into the boat , then going down below the water surface again , and then ever so gently again coming up and gazing at the clients in our boat ! THIS is the kind of experience on the Whale Watching trip that brings tears to your eyes , it is absolutely soul stirring and gives you goose-skin !

From a far distance it appeared as if to ‘stand still’ , and they thought at first it was a boat on the horizon , but getting closer saw it was a huge Humpback Whale . Needless to say he was trigger happy on his camera and took about 200 photographs .

If ever you want to look at the photos , you’re more than welcome to go and make yourselves at home at THE WHALE SHOP (OFFICE) and ask Nikki to show you some dvd’s of the trips , or the cd slideshow of some of our more beautiful photographs . (((I’m thinking of changing THE WHALE SHOP’s name to THE WHALE OFFICE ….as it is actually more of an OFFICE than a SHOP….))) ((( If I do change this it will be soon , and hopefully people will still go to the correct office , THE WHALE OFFICE next to the Ocean Basket Building ….

Whale Watching in South Africa is the best this time of the year , having the choice of 9 legal boat-based-whale-watching permit holders to get you safely out at sea to observe these awesome Cetaceans from as close as 50m’s . Please always make sure that you go boat based whale watching with a legal permit holder !

Advantage Tours did 4 whale trips today and the average amount of whales between the 4 trips was about 8 Humpback Whales per trip !

Again …as I used to be a pain about jackets at the beginning of winter , for the 1st couple of weeks at the beginning of summer I want to be a pain about sunblock lotion !
